Children’s Lives Transformed Through Weekly Outreach
My name is Maryam (all names changed for security reasons) and I serve as the coordinator and leader of the children’s outreach in our town in a country near Iran. I hope these testimonies that I share adequately convey my gratitude to those who have enabled this work. I’m so overjoyed that God gave us the opportunity to serve these children in this way.
In these last few weeks that I have been gathering these children, I have seen nothing short of transformation in their lives. Some were isolated and deeply reclusive because of the difficulties they have been facing as refugees here. It’s no exaggeration to say that the vast majority of those who are refugees are suffering from depression because of the severely difficult circumstances they find themselves in. The situation is worse than you can imagine.
But God is using us to help these children find hope and joy despite their difficult circumstances.
We have the group divided up by age so we can put on age-appropriate sessions.
Kevin is a 14-year-old boy. His father had been in (deportation/refugee) camp for 11 months when he came to us. The first week he was not interested at all. He did not want to return. His mother made him come to the second session. She had to forcibly hand him to me. We brought him to the front where we were singing and worshipping and drew him into worship. Right from those very first few moments a supernatural joy came into this boy. He was even dancing by the end! It was hard convincing him to go home at the end of the session.
Anastasia, is 8 years old. She is a Muslim girl. The first week, she would not leave her mother’s side. She was literally glued to her. But from the second week onwards she was joyfully playing with the other children. Praise God that we were able to transfer the heaven’s joy and peace to this child.
Beata is 16 years old. For 6 months she had been imprisoned in refugee/deportation camp with her father. She was deeply depressed. Her mental health was in a terrible state. It was heartbreaking. I wish you could see the videos of her engaging with the other children. She has become a source of joy and blessing to the other children!
As a mother of two refugee children myself, and as a Bible teacher, I want to personally thank those who are enabling this life changing program.
You have placed these children in the joy of the presence of the Lord for hours on end and you are changing lives.
I’m so happy I have had a part in this program and I hope it continues for years to come.
