Iran Crisis: Faith Rising Under Fire
Iran Crisis: Faith Rising Under Fire
A Nation in Crisis—and a Conversation the World Needs to Hear
As global tensions around Iran intensify, headlines are dominated by war, nuclear threats and political instability. But behind the news cycle lies a deeper story—one of suffering, spiritual hunger and a rapidly growing underground church.
In this episode of Viewpoint with Tony Hodge, Tony sits down with Lana Silk, CEO of Transform Iran, to unpack the reality on the ground. Born in Iran on the infamous and historic “Black Friday” of 1978, Lana brings both personal history and frontline insight into what is unfolding today.
From the brutality of the regime to the resilience of ordinary Iranians, this conversation reveals a nation caught between oppression and hope—and why many believe Iran stands on the brink of profound change.
A Regime Built on Control and Fear
Iran’s current crisis cannot be understood without recognizing the nature of its leadership.
The Islamic Republic was established in 1979 under Ayatollah Khomeini, replacing a secular monarchy with a system governed by Sharia law. Since then, the regime’s goal has remained consistent: absolute control—internally and beyond its borders.
Lana Silk explains that this is not simply political strategy but an entrenched ideological system sustained by power, coercion and fear.
Iran is not interested in peaceful coexistence. Iran wants world domination. That’s Iranian leadership.
Even now, despite external pressure and internal unrest, the regime remains deeply entrenched. While key leaders have been removed and cracks are beginning to show, the system itself is far from dismantled.
This is why calls for immediate uprising or rapid regime collapse are, in her view, premature.

The Iranian People Are Not the Enemy
One of the most critical distinctions often missed in Western narratives is the difference between the regime and the people.
Despite decades of indoctrination—including children being made to chant “death to America”—the Iranian population has not embraced this hostility.
Instead, many Iranians admire the freedoms of the West and long for a different future.
What the government tried to teach hasn’t taken root in people’s hearts.
In recent protests, chants once directed at foreign nations have been redirected toward the regime itself—“death to the dictator”. This shift reveals a deep rejection of government control and a growing desire for change.
Yet these same people remain unarmed, vulnerable and subject to extreme violence from their own authorities.
Brutality Behind the Headlines
While global attention focuses on military conflict, a quieter but devastating reality continues within Iran’s borders.
The regime has shown a willingness to use extreme force to maintain control—targeting its own citizens with violence that is often hidden from the outside world.
The regime will stop at nothing to weed out any kind of dissent.
From shootings in the streets to countless reports of torture and abuse, the cost of resistance is extraordinarily high. Communication is restricted, surveillance is constant and even basic safety cannot be assumed.
Yet despite this, many Iranians express a striking perspective: they fear their own government more than external threats.
A Nation Under Pressure—But Not Without Hope
Amid hardship, there is also a growing sense that Iran is approaching a decisive moment.
Economic strain, political fragmentation and sustained protests are shifting the internal landscape. Even non-Christians sense that the country is moving toward a different future.
There’s a sense that the tide is turning. Iran is going to look to a different future.
Within Transform Iran’s network, the conversation has shifted from long-term preparation to immediate readiness—planning for church planting and ministry inside the country when access becomes possible.
This sense of urgency reflects both the volatility of the moment and the expectation of change.
The Fastest-Growing Church in the World
Perhaps the most surprising development is happening spiritually.
Despite intense persecution, Iran is now home to what many describe as the fastest-growing church in the world. Millions of Iranians from Muslim backgrounds are encountering the gospel and choosing to follow Jesus.
Faith is spreading quickly across Iran. Iranians are excited to find life-giving spiritual truth.
Through satellite TV, digital platforms and AI-powered tools like Kairos, people are accessing Scripture and discipleship resources—even in highly restricted environments.
Many have never met a Christian before encountering the gospel through these channels.
Technology Is Opening New Doors for the Gospel
In a country where traditional evangelism is nearly impossible, innovation is playing a critical role.
Transform Iran is leveraging secure VPN, digital church platforms and AI tools to bypass restrictions and reach individuals privately and safely.
One recent testimony tells of a man who had never met a Christian but spent a year searching for answers about Jesus. Through the innovative new discipleship platform Kairos, he explored his questions and ultimately chose to follow Christ.
He had never met a Christian, but he had Jesus on his mind for a year. Then Kairos gently answered his personal questions and guided him to Christ.
These tools don’t replace the church. They bridge the gap between curiosity and access to the gospel—between the inability to safely reach pastors or content and secure, confidential access—making faith formation possible where physical gatherings are too dangerous.

Iran’s Biblical Identity—and Future Hope
Iran’s story is not only political—it is deeply rooted in biblical history.
Ancient Persia played a significant role in Scripture, with kings like Cyrus and Darius supporting and protecting God’s people. Many biblical figures, including Daniel and Esther, are connected to the land.
Lana believes this heritage points to a future purpose for Iran.
Iran is supposed to be a blessing to the nations and that is coming back.
For many believers, this is not just history—it is a promise that God is still at work in the nation today.
